November 2007 - The West Virginia Sheriffs' Association Newsletter recently included the following:

"The West Virginia Sheriffs' Bureau was reactivated in 2007.  This section of WV Code allows the setting and application of state-wide standards for sheriff's offices to operate, from standardized uniforms, cars and equipment to training, active participation in the state's homeland security initiative and the possibility of a centralized grant administration for sheriffs in our future. We need to thank Department of military Affairs and Public Safety Secretary James Spears and his staff who have welcomed the WVSA with open arms in working with us on the Sheriffs' Bureau.  DMAPS has included the WVSA in many projects and invited us to serve on various committees, as well." - Rodney A Miller, Boone County Sheriff and WV Sheriffs' Association President

DMAPS would like to thank Sheriff Miller for his kind words and we look forward to working with the WV Sheriffs' Association on many projects in the future.
