D. L. Lemmon, Colonel
Mission: The West Virginia state police shall have the mission of statewide enforcement of criminal and traffic laws with emphasis on providing basic enforcement and citizen protection from criminal depredation throughout the state and maintaining the safety of the state's public streets, roads and highways.
Biography: Colonel D. L. Lemmon enlisted in the West Virginia State Police in 1955. He was promoted through the ranks from Trooper to Detachment Commander, District Commander, Company (Troop) Commander, Inspector of Internal Affairs and to Deputy Superintendent. He retired in 1987 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Colonel Lemmon was appointed by Governor Joe Manchin as Superintendent of the West Virginia State Police in January, 2005.
